Karawang Provides Agricultural Insurance to Protect Farmers from Crop Failure

Printable.biz.id - The Karawang Regency Government, West Java, through the Department of Agriculture and Food Security, provides agricultural insurance for farmers. This program aims to protect them from significant losses in case of crop failure.

"There is an agricultural insurance program available for farmers. So, if they experience crop failure, for example, they can receive compensation from the insurance," said the Head of the Karawang Department of Agriculture and Food Security, Rohman, in Karawang on Sunday.

This year, the insured rice field area in Karawang has been increased to 60,000 hectares, up from the previous 40,000 hectares.

The program is designed to help farmers who experience crop failure. With this insurance, farmers can file compensation claims and use the funds to replant their crops.

This insurance is known as the Rice Farming Business Insurance (Asuransi Usaha Tani Padi - AUTP). Its benefits include protecting farmers from various risks such as:

• Floods
• Drought
• Pest and plant disease attacks

According to Rohman, this program is part of the local government's efforts to keep the agricultural sector strong and sustainable.

In addition to providing insurance, the Karawang Department of Agriculture and Food Security also targets a harvested dry grain (GKP) production of 1.45 million tons by 2025, an increase from the previous year's 1.2 million tons.

One of the strategies used to achieve this target is encouraging farmers to increase planting frequency from twice to three times a year.

With agricultural insurance and increased production, it is hoped that the agricultural sector in Karawang will continue to grow, and farmers will achieve greater prosperity.
